MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) _ Elastic NV (ESTC) on Wednesday reported a loss of $29.2 million in its fiscal second quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Mountain View, California-based company said it had a loss of 34 cents. Losses, adjusted for stock option expense and pretax expenses, came to 3 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 20 cents per share.

The software developer posted revenue of $144.9 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $130.6 million.

For the current quarter ending in February, Elastic expects its results to range from a loss of 16 cents per share to a loss of 14 cents per share.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $145 million to $147 million for the fiscal third quarter.

Elastic expects full-year results to range from a loss of 40 cents per share to a loss of 32 cents per share, with revenue ranging from $568 million to $572 million.

Elastic shares have risen 86% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $119.90, a climb of 57% in the last 12 months.
