MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) _ Elastic NV (ESTC) on Thursday reported a loss of $69.6 million in its fiscal first quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Mountain View, California-based company said it had a loss of 74 cents. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 15 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 17 cents per share.

The software developer posted revenue of $250.1 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $245.8 million.

For the current quarter ending in November, Elastic expects its results to range from a loss of 11 cents per share to a loss of 9 cents per share.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $260 million to $262 million for the fiscal second quarter.

Elastic expects full-year results to range from a loss of 31 cents per share to a loss of 25 cents per share, with revenue ranging from $1.08 billion to $1.09 billion.
