ELECOM CO., LTD. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, Japan; President: Junji Hada) is launching a new line of Hi-res stereo headphones, the 'EHP-R/HH1000A series', equipped with a hybrid driver that delivers a wide range of sound, starting in the beginning of January, 2016.

Hi-Res audio far exceeds the fidelity found in compact discs and is a file format that reproduces the finest details in a piece of audio, offering you an experience with immersive and realistic sounds. The new products, the 'EHP-R/HH1000A series', are equipped with a hybrid driver which achieves a reproduction of high resolution sound in a wide range of frequencies. Equipped with a MMCX style connector, the product, which comes with two types of cables, allows you to plug into audio devices using the 3-conductor mini-plug cable or plug into smartphones using the 4-conductor mini-plug cable. The cable compatible with smartphones has both a microphone and a controller that allow you to pick up calls and play music.

The 'EHP-R/HH1000A series' employ a hybrid driver; a combination of a balanced armature (BA) driver that reproduces clear and clean mid to high-pitch sounds and a dynamic driver with a beryllium-coated diaphragm which delivers defined mid to low pitch sounds, making it possible to reproduce Hi-Res sounds in a wide range of frequencies.
Compared to commonly-used dynamic drivers, the BA driver is able to reproduce mid to high-pitch sounds closer to the original sound and respond to vibrations more precisely. The dynamic driver, on the other hand, can reproduce clear and pure sounds in the mid to high-ranges, thanks to the built-in diaphragm coated with beryllium, which is harder and lighter than titanium or aluminum and highly resistant to temperature fluctuations (and has led to its regular use in the aircraft and aerospace industries). Employing a beryllium diaphragm has enabled the reproduction of deep bass and pure vocals as well as crystal clear treble by reducing the time delay in frequency response and successfully suppressing low-pitch sound. Also, the housings made with highly rigid aluminum have successfully reduced excess vibrations and improved the fidelity of signal reproduction while improving robustness and reducing weight at the same time.

The ear caps are also meticulously designed in terms of air-tightness, fitting comfort, and ease of use so that great sound created by the hybrid drivers can be precisely and yet gently delivered to the ears. The ear caps feature a double structure with differentiated firmness between the inside and the outside layers, preventing sound leakage while improving bass sound. The ear caps come in three generic sizes, S/M/L, so you can choose the best size to fit your ears. The cables are made of oxygen-free copper (OFC) litz wires which reproduce clear high-pitch sound while suffering little from signal degradation. The EHP-R/HH1000A models are available in standard black and silver.
