INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Eli Lilly and Co. (LLY) on Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $952.5 million.

The Indianapolis-based company said it had net income of $1.05 per share. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs and investment costs, came to $1.25 per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.80 per share.

The drugmaker posted revenue of $6.49 billion in the period, which also did not meet Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $6.9 billion.

Lilly expects full-year earnings in the range of $7.90 to $8.05 per share, with revenue in the range of $28.8 billion to $29.3 billion.
