EN+ GROUP IPJSC (the 'Company', 'En+' or the 'Group') (LSE: ENPL; MOEX: ENPG) today announced that Executive Chairman Lord Barker of Battle has been appointed co-chair of the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (CPLC).

Administered by The World Bank Group, the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition is a voluntary partnership working to catalyse action towards the successful implementation of universal carbon pricing with the common goal of limiting atmospheric carbon emissions and lessening the effects of climate change. The Coalition was launched on the opening day of the Paris Climate Conference (COP21) in 2015 and brings together more than 300 members, including 34 governments, 172 global companies and 100 strategic partners representing a worldwide network of NGOs, business organizations, and universities, to support understanding of universal carbon pricing implementation.

Lord Barker will join long-time climate action advocate Minister Juan Carlos Jobet of Chile as co-chair of the CPLC High-Level Assembly.

Commenting after his welcome address as the new CPLC High-Level Assembly Co-Chair, Lord Barker of Battle, Executive Chairman of En+ Group said:

'I am honoured to take up this important role at such a critical time. As the world turns to focus on the Glasgow COP26 Summit in November, we must open up a broader discussion on universal carbon pricing and build real climate action momentum. To tackle the climate emergency, we need to utilise the whole climate policy toolbox - including a robust carbon pricing mechanism to ensure a sustainable and equitable post-pandemic transition to a Net Zero world. And with so much attention on the global climate agenda, our aim must be to engage a wider range of voices and stakeholders to drive forward the pricing of carbon. It is time to put carbon pricing at the front and centre of the call to action on climate change.'

Lord Barker has a professional background in energy and finance and prior to joining London-listed En+ Group, the world's largest producer of low carbon aluminium and biggest private sector generator of clean hydropower, he served as United Kingdom Minister of State for Energy & Climate Change under Prime Minister David Cameron, becoming the longest serving British energy minister for a generation. As executive chairman of En+ Group, Lord Barker has raised the company's climate ambition and in January 2021, the Group became the first global metals and mining business to commit to Net Zero and adopted the sector's most ambitious 2030 greenhouse gas reduction target. Last year, En+ Group became a Knowledge Partner of the International Policy Coalition for Sustainable Growth launched by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. En+ Group also joined the UN Global Compact's Business Ambition for 1.5°C - making the company the first aluminium producer to join the global initiative to limit global temperature rise.
