Endesa SA said Wednesday that net profit and earnings rose in the first nine months of the year.

The Spanish utility company reported a net profit of 1.51 billion euros ($1.77 billion) for the period compared with EUR176 million a year earlier, when it booked an impairment charge in relation to mainland coal-fired thermal power plants.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose to EUR3.14 billion from EUR2.90 billion.

Sales came in at EUR12.31 billion, down from EUR14.29 billion in the previous year period.

Endesa said it isn't able to make a precise estimate of the potential impact of coronavirus on its business during the next few months as the situation remains uncertain.
