• Endesa X has installed 600 solar modules in its factory in Vila-Real, in Castellón occupying an area of around 1,400 square metres on a relevant part of the roof.
  • The installation will allow Mainzu to save 15% of its electricity consumption each year and avoid emitting more than 100 tons of CO2 into atmosphere every year, thus supporting the ecological transition of the country.
  • Both companies reached the agreement at the end of January and in just four months, the facility has been legalised and is in service.

Mainzu Cerámica, a pioneer in the production of ceramic coatings, has opted for energy self-consumption by Endesa X: more than 600 photovoltaic modules installed in a relevant part of the roof of its production plant in Vila-Real (about 1,400 m2) were put into operation today.

The installation was carried out and commissioned in just four months and will allow Mainzu to have a power of 285kWp and an annual production of 410 MWh. Thanks to the fact that the production processes are continuous, Mainzu will be able to take advantage of more than 90% of the production of this facility, so it will be self-consumed and enable it to save up to 15% of its electricity consumption.

This energy saving is linked to Mainzu's commitment to the protection of the environment and thanks to this leap to self-consumption, it will be able to reduce its carbon footprint by about 102 tons of CO2/year, thus taking the path in its own decarbonisation process. This translates into the very positive effect on air quality that could generate 13,667 new trees or prevent 135.70 tons of CO2 being released into the atmosphere.

Mainzu is located in the heart of the ceramic fabric of Castellón, one of the areas with the most intense energy consumption nationwide due to the strategic weight of the ceramic industry and with more than 300 days of sunshine per year, a perfect combination for the formula of self-consumption.

Self-consumption, together with other energy efficiency initiatives, will play a key role in decarbonisation in the domestic area and in the production sector. Endesa X helps customers to install solar photovoltaic technology which is completely tailored to their needs.
