• Endesa X will undertake the construction of two photovoltaic self-consumption facilities for DOMCA: The first for its headquarters in Granada; and the second, for the DMC Research Centre, a technological division of this group dedicated to R&D&I and also located in Granada.
  • With this project, 40% of the electricity consumed by these plants will be obtained directly from a clean and renewable energy source, the sun, which will enable Domca to maintain its commitment to innovation in a more sustainable way.
  • This will avoid a total emission to the atmosphere of 65 tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to planting more than 4,100 trees.

Endesa X, the energy services subsidiary of Endesa, will launch two photovoltaic self-consumption plants for DOMCA, a company with more than forty years of experience, a leader in the development and marketing of natural ingredients and innovative preservation solutions for the agri-food industry. This will enable DOMCA to maintain its commitment to innovation, extending it to its energy consumption and promoting sustainability and the circular economy.

According to Davide Ciciliato, General Manager of Endesa X, 'we are very proud to be able to accompany DOMCA in its firm commitment to innovation and sustainability in this project. Solar energy, along with other energy efficiency initiatives, is one of the key points for addressing decarbonisation in the industrial sector and Endesa X aims to adapt to the needs of our customers by implementing projects that take advantage of natural resources, such as this one for photovoltaic self-consumption'.

In the words of Andrea Ricci, the DOMCA Group's Commercial Manager: 'We liked this project from the very beginning. We are grateful for the work Endesa X is doing to turn our installations into a more environmentally friendly factory.'

Endesa X is undertaking this project under the turnkey modality, including calculation, design, manufacture, supply, transport, insurance, installation and commissioning of the plants, which are currently under construction and which will be responsible for providing renewable and clean energy to the plant in Granada and to that of the DMC Research Centre, a technological division of this group responsible for R&D&I and also located in Granada.

Specifically, the installation at the DOMCA plant in Granada will generate 114.4 kWp of power from 260 solar panels, while the DMC Research Centre will generate 48.9 kWp of power from 103 modules. With these two self-consumption solar plants it will be possible to cover almost 40% and 45%, respectively, of the energy they need for their production processes with clean and renewable energy.

This commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency will enable DOMCA to make a qualitative leap in tandem with Endesa X and join the energy revolution, thus embarking on a transition to production that is more environmentally friendly: it will be able to reduce its carbon footprint by more than 65 tons of CO2/year, equivalent to planting more than 4,100 trees/year.

The project undertaken for DOMCA will also include a system that will enable easy monitoring of the energy produced by the photovoltaic installation, the energy self-consumed and the savings made. This service also enables the company to visualise its consumption in real time, detecting anomalies extra costs and deviations, and to study their causes, and with that information to design the Energy Management Service (SGE in Spanish) measures required for these problems to be solved, which translates into a direct saving. The SGE does not only provide the client with data and who then has to interpret it, it also makes an analysis that enables informed decisions to be taken.

Endesa X also provides companies with a service throughout the process for managing existing support for self-consumption installations, that enable a significant reduction in the costs involved when installing panels for self-consumption, making the return on the investment even more attractive. Endesa manages this support for its clients, as well as comprehensive assessment with regard to selecting the best option for the photovoltaic installation.
