• The company will apply the principles of the circular economy at the EuroBasket 2021, and the plastics used at the Valencia headquarters during EuroBasket will be converted into new materials, such as the creation of fully recycled notebooks that will be distributed among the Basket Lover community.
  • Endesa will also offset the greenhouse gas emissions produced by the Spanish National Team's travelling and that of all the national teams that play their games at the headquarters in Valencia.
  • The Basket Girlz programme, which seeks to combat the early abandonment of basketball in girls between 12 and 18 years old, will also be a protagonist of Endesa's agenda of activities.

Endesa, official sponsor of the Spanish Women's Basketball Team, will reuse the discarded plastics at the Valencia headquarters of FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2021 and will focus on the new generations of players with actions framed within the Basket Girlz project. The company thus shows its commitment to integral sustainability with specific actions, a concept that goes beyond the environment to incorporate social aspects such as fairness and equal opportunities.

The plastics used at the Valencia headquarters during EuroBasket 2021 will become new materials by making fully recycled notebooks that will be distributed among the Basket Lover community. In total, more than 100kg of plastics, bottles and lids will go through a casting process that will give life to unique recycled parts. An initiative that exemplifies Endesa's commitment to the circular economy, a new economic model that aspires to a more efficient use of resources, minimising those that are consumed and reincorporating usable waste into the production process.

Likewise, Endesa will offset the greenhouse gas emissions produced by the Spanish National Team's travel and that of all the national teams that play their games at the headquarters in Valencia by participating in forestry projects that contribute to the mitigation of climate change.

Sustainability has been one of the cornerstones in the development of the company's sports sponsorship in the 2020-21 season. In the Copa del Rey and the Copa de la Reina LF Endesa the focus was placed on the fans, who competed digitally in an ecological trivia competition to generate sustainable awareness.

Meanwhile, the Basket Girlz project, an initiative focused on understanding and alleviating the causes of early withdrawal from basketball among young players, was the star of the previous days and will continue to be so during the celebration of the event. The starting gun was the attendance of a group of basketball fans at the team's presentation at Endesa HQ on 17 May, actively participating by asking the players of the SelFEM questions.
