Enel Green Power North America Inc. on Wednesday said it signed a virtual power purchase agreement with lululemon athletica inc., which will allow the seller of athletic apparel to "achieve its goal of sourcing 100% renewable electricity across its direct operations in North America by 2021."

Under the terms of the deal, lululemon will purchase electricity from the Azure Wind project in Texas, equivalent to all the electricity used by lululemon's company-operated stores, offices and warehouse facilities in North America, Enel said.

Esther Speck, lululemon's vice president of sustainable business and impact, said "lululemon is committed to helping create an apparel industry that is both sustainable and inclusive, and addresses the serious implications of climate change, including working toward a net-zero future and cutting carbon emissions across our value chain."

Enel said the Azure Sky Wind and Storage project, located in Throckmorton County, includes a 350MW wind project and about 137MW of battery storage. The company said the project is expected to be operational in the first half of next year.
