Enel SpA said Friday that its subsidiary Enel Green Power Chile intends to join a pilot project to produce hydrogen with renewable energy in Chile.

The Rome-based energy company said the pilot plant, which would produce hydrogen through an electrolyzer powered by wind energy, is likely to be commissioned in 2022.

It would work together with Chilean power company AME and potentially state-owned Empresa Nacional del Petroleo, as well as Germany's Siemens Energy AG and Porsche AG, Enel said.
