Contributing to the development of sustainable mobility is central to ENGIE's ambition because it helps facilitate the transition to a carbon-neutral society.

ENGIE wants to guide citizens, companies and local authorities in their transition to greener mobility solutions and offers them a range of integrated and innovative solutions. ENGIE, for example, installed various charging points for the first six electric buses of De Lijn in Leuven.

As a subcontractor to ABB, the subsidiary ENGIE Solutions was responsible for the installation works of the charging infrastructure and the necessary supplies to feed the charging infrastructure. In total, 2 fast chargers of 300 kW were installed at the KULeuven and 2 slow chargers of 150 kW, each with 3 charging units, at the depot in Leuven-Noord where the buses can be charged at night.

The project in Leuven is the first within this pilot project of De Lijn. Later in the year, this pilot project will be further extended to Antwerp with an installation at the UZA. After that we also foresee a project in Ghent. This is how ENGIE helps De Lijn in their mission towards an emission-free operation of the Flemish city centers and a completely emission-free public transport in Flanders by 2035.
