With the intermediation of the Salto Santiago Hydropower Plant, ENGIE Brasil Energia, was awarded the SESI ODS 2021 prize. This accolade aims to recognize, valorize and disseminate work in favor of the SDGs executed by industries, companies and teaching institutions, both public and third sector, through initiatives for achieving the goals in the state of Paraná.
During the virtual ceremony held during the Sesi ODS 2021 Congress, ENGIE was placed first in the Big Industry category for the Women of Our Neighborhood project, designed and implemented in 2020 as one of the Company's initiatives for ameliorating the negative impact of the pandemic with its focus on women, one of the segments of the population worst affected and one which will take more time to return to the conditions as they were before COVID.
The program consists of initiatives for incentivizing entrepreneurship and the generation of income as well as offering free courses for skills training, information on support networks, initiatives for raising the sensibility and awareness for combating domestic violence and also healthcare support. In the award's first edition, of the 28 initiatives chosen nationally, two are from Paraná: TECHNOLOGY IN CAPILLARY THERAPY from Quedas do Iguaçu, and NUTRIÁVIDA from Saudades do Iguaçu.
Among the teaching institutions recognized by the SESI ODS 2021 Award, the José de Anchieta State College, Quedas do Iguaçu, was a winning participant in another of ENGIE's projects, TransformAção. This stimulates protagonism for fostering initiatives related to the SDGs among students from schools located in the municipalities surrounding the plants.
Also during the course of the Congress, this time in respect of the Peça por Peça (Piece by Piece) Award, of the ten schools awarded, five of them enjoy ENGIE's support through the TransformAção project. This prize recognizes initiatives benefiting the transformation of the school environment specifically in relation to SDG 04 - Quality Education.
