Eni: commissioning of SAF plant in Sicily

Enilive announces the commissioning of its first sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production plant at the Gela biorefinery in Sicily, with an annual capacity of 400,000 tonnes, representing almost a third of the European demand forecast for 2025 under the ReFuelEU Aviation regulation.

Since 2022, Enilive has signed agreements with several airlines to supply SAF, using raw materials derived from waste.

The company is aiming for a refining capacity of over 5 million tons per year by 2030, including 1 million for SAF by 2026, with the potential to double this by 2030.
