(Alliance News) - Eni Spa, the main foreign producer in Libya, has made a significant contribution to the National Oil Company's surpassing its 2024 target of 1.4 million barrels of crude oil per day, as Milano Finanza writes Wednesday.

Including about 206,000 barrels of gas equivalent, Libya's total production exceeded 1.6 million barrels per day, approaching the pre-crisis levels of 2011.

During the Libya Energy and Economy Conference 2025, Noc's interim president, Masoud Suleman, announced a goal of reaching 2 million barrels per day within three years, if adequately funded. New exploration rounds are planned to open 1,000 wells.

With 48 billion barrels of discovered and untapped oil, a total estimate of 90 billion barrels and 3.5 trillion cubic feet of gas, Libya offers significant potential.

Eni, represented in Tripoli by Upstream Director Luca Vignati, stressed the country's strategic importance and plans to drill three new wells in 2025, in onshore, shallow water and deepwater settings.

NOC also aims to develop the petrochemical industry and improve refining, promoting private sector participation and consolidating Libya as a major global player in the oil and gas market.
