Entain Foundation U.S. supports Seton Hall Law School Training of Legal & Regulatory Professionals for Sports-Betting and Gaming

Registration open for 2nd annual training, Sept. 19-22, 2021

Legal, regulatory, compliance and business experts from around the world gather this month at Seton Hall Law School, New Jersey, for a second Sports Betting and Gaming Law, Compliance and Integrity Program, funded by the Entain Foundation U.S..

The program, known as the Seton Hall Bootcamp, will strengthen legal and compliance professionals specializing in sports betting and gaming as the industry continues to expand rapidly across the U.S. The Entain Foundation is the not-for-profit arm of Entain, the global sports betting, gaming and interactive entertainment group operating through BetMGM, a joint venture between Entain and MGM Resorts International, in the U.S.

The Bootcamp program provides the most thorough regulatory and business overview for legal and compliance professionals working in the sports-betting and gaming sector in the U.S., also addressing competitive, regulatory, compliance, responsible gambling and integrity issues.

Scheduled for Sept. 19-22, 2021, the first event is a networking reception at Monmouth Park racetrack in Oceanport, New Jersey. All other sessions will be held at the Seton Hall Law School in Newark, New Jersey.

Much of the curriculum is geared toward gaming company executives, attorneys, regulators, compliance officers, and responsible gambling advocates, all of whom seek to expand their understanding of today's complex gaming markets. The program will also cover state, provincial, tribal and national initiatives, state regulations, and responsible gambling. Expert speakers will also provide a broad overview of the business growth and competitive dynamics of the sports-betting and gaming industry in the U.S. and elsewhere.

The program is a unique opportunity for recent law graduates and other professionals looking to learn about, launch and develop careers in the gaming industry. Speakers include business executives, key government officials, in-house and external counsel, legal scholars, compliance officers, and prominent industry advisors.

Martin Lycka, Entain's Senior Vice President for U.S. Regulatory Affairs and Responsible Gambling, Foundation Trustee, and a board member and panelist on the program, described it as a 'pre-requisite for anyone working on legal, regulatory, compliance and responsible gambling issues in the U.S. and in other countries where legal sports betting and gaming initiatives are taking root or growing rapidly.'

'Knowledge, experience, expertise and integrity are needed to build and assure a robust and successful sports betting and gaming industry in the U.S. that delivers on its promise of safe and enjoyable entertainment,' Mr. Lycka added. 'Seton Hall is a pioneer in this endeavor, and this year's program will help to develop the best talent for the challenges ahead.'

Kathleen Boozang, Dean and Professor of Law at Seton Hall Law School, invited professionals from every discipline to participate. 'With the Entain Foundation's U.S. sponsorship, we are honored to host this 2nd Bootcamp second program for a broader spectrum of professionals, especially after the pandemic challenges of the past year. Our legal faculty and speakers are the best in the business; every one of them is an expert in their field and many are executives from the world's best-known operators and leading state agencies,' she said.

She continued, 'This year's Bootcamp program expands the scope of presentations beyond legal and regulatory issues to include business and strategic questions within the regulatory theme. And it's a great opportunity for prospective gaming business professionals to meet the industry's leaders, to learn more about career opportunities, and to launch their career trajectory-all in one place.' Boozang added, 'Graduates are increasingly entering careers in the sports, gaming, hospitality and entertainment fields. We want to be a resource for this important industry.'

William J. Pascrell III, international gambling regulatory expert and Bootcamp speaker, Partner at Princeton Public Affairs Group, Foundation Trustee and Seton Hall Law alumnus, underscored the value of this year's Bootcamp. 'The evolution of legalized gambling across international, national, state, provincial and tribal jurisdictions is accelerating. The Seton Hall Bootcamp program is the best way to keep pace with this evolution and to prepare for even more growth in this dynamic industry. Industry experts, professionals and potential applicants should not miss this opportunity.'
