BILLERICA, Mass. (AP) _ Entegris Inc. (ENTG) on Tuesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $57.4 million.

The Billerica, Massachusetts-based company said it had net income of 42 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 55 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 54 cents per share.

The maker of equipment used in chip manufacturing posted revenue of $427 million in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $427.9 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $254.9 million, or $1.87 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.59 billion.

For the current quarter ending in April, Entegris expects its per-share earnings to range from 50 cents to 55 cents.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $415 million to $430 million for the fiscal first quarter.

Entegris shares have risen almost 5% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 57% in the last 12 months.
