E.ON and the German Institute for Federal Real Estate (BImA) are accelerating the expansion of the charging infrastructure in Germany.

By the second quarter of 2027, E.ON will install 7,000 new charging points for electric vehicles on federal property for BImA.

Users will include federal ministries and research institutes, the Federal Network Agency and BImA itself. The aim is to support the federal institutions in electrifying their vehicle fleets and at the same time provide convenient charging solutions for employees and guests.

Christoph Ebert, E.ON Drive Board Member responsible for the DACH region: 'The ramp-up of electromobility is in full swing, including in the administrative sector. We are expanding the charging infrastructure on federal properties on a large scale, creating convenient solutions for all those who use electric vehicles for business or commute to work by electric car. We are delighted to be implementing this ambitious project quickly and efficiently together with BImA. This brings us a big step closer to our goal of being able to charge easily anytime and anywhere.'

Brigitte Bourscheidt, Head of Facility Management at BImA, adds: 'Electric mobility is a key factor in climate protection. Our users have told BImA that they have a great need for charging points for their fleets. As the central real estate company of the Federal Government, it is very important for us to provide them with the best possible support in the area of e-mobility and thus make an active contribution to the energy turnaround.'

Individual and intelligent charging solutions for different user groups

As part of their partnership, E.ON and BImA are equipping sites across Germany with thousands of charging stations and wallboxes. The right charging solution - DC fast charger, AC charger or wallbox - will be used depending on the driving profile of the users and the parking duration of their electric vehicle. E.ON is responsible for the installation and operation of the charging stations and supplies them with 100 percent green electricity.

Intelligent charging and load management also takes into account the needs of different user groups and enables targeted prioritisation and control of loads at different locations. For example, company or emergency vehicles can be given priority access to the charging station. They are automatically allocated the maximum available charge. If other groups, such as guests, are using the charging station at the same time, it is possible to temporarily reduce their charging capacity in favour of the emergency vehicle. Intelligent load management not only ensures efficient and effective charging, but also optimises power consumption and reduces costs.

E.ON supports the Federal Administration in electrifying its vehicle fleet

The federal administration has a special role to play in achieving climate targets and promoting electromobility. The German federal government is pursuing a multi-pronged approach to promoting electromobility. On the one hand, it is continuously converting its own vehicle fleets and increasingly relying on company vehicles with environmentally friendly drive systems. At the same time, it is building the necessary charging infrastructure for its federal properties throughout Germany.

E.ON has set itself the goal of accelerating the transformation of traffic and transport throughout Europe. To this end, the company is investing in the business of electric mobility solutions and the expansion of the European charging infrastructure - for charging at home, at work and on the move. With this new cooperation, E.ON once again underlines its position as a leading partner for companies, administrations and local authorities in the electrification of their vehicle fleets.
