Across the 19 countries that use the euro as their currency, gross domestic product grew 0.3% on quarter in the first three months of the year, the European Union's statistics agency Eurostat said Tuesday, up from a first estimate of 0.2% for the period and compared with a 0.3% rise in the previous quarter. Ukraine Says Long Combat Mission in Mariupol Has Ended

KYIV, Ukraine-Ukraine's government said its combat mission in Mariupol was over and evacuations of its soldiers had begun, concluding months of bloody battling against Russian forces that ended with a dramatic siege at an abandoned steel plant where fighters and civilians took refuge.

"The Mariupol garrison has fulfilled its combat mission," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a statement early Tuesday. "The Supreme Military Command ordered the commanders of the units stationed at Azovstal to save the lives of their personnel."

U.S. to Loosen Restrictions on Cuba, Reversing Some Trump-Era Policies

WASHINGTON-The Biden administration on Monday said it is loosening some restrictions on flights to and from Cuba and re-establishing a family-reunification program that had been suspended in recent years, reversing a series of Trump-era policies that had largely cut off the island and its people from the U.S.

The policy changes would also expand consular services and visa processing, enabling more Cubans to either visit or join their families in the U.S. Those changes will ultimately require the reassignment of more American diplomatic personnel into Cuba following the removal of many from Havana in 2017 after a series of mysterious injuries there and at other posts abroad that have been referred to as Havana Syndrome.

Spread of Buffalo Shooting Video Shows Social-Media Platforms Still Struggle to Remove Violent Content

Three years after a mass shooting in New Zealand was live-streamed online, the spread of footage taken by the alleged shooter in Buffalo, N.Y., shows how social-media platforms still struggle to keep their platforms from being used to broadcast violent, extremist videos.

The shooting rampage at a supermarket on Saturday, which left 10 people dead and three wounded, was broadcast on Twitch, a site owned by Amazon.com Inc. that specializes in live streaming.

California Church Shooting Suspect Was Upset About China-Taiwan Relations

A gunman accused of killing one person and wounding five others inside a Southern California church over the weekend was upset about the state of relations between China and Taiwan, law-enforcement officials said Monday.

The deadly assault happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday and is being investigated as a possible "politically motivated hate incident," Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes said at a press conference.
