(Alliance News) - Eprcomunicazione Spa reported Tuesday that overall the sector formed by the rubber and plastics industries is worth EUR25.9 billion in turnover, according to 2022 figures that record more than 10 percent growth compared to 2021, when it stood at EUR23.4 billion.

"An important growth, which was marked by numerous difficulties such as rising costs of raw materials, energy and logistics, related to the war scenario and the continuing pandemic. Specifically, raw materials increased year-on-year by 40 percent, with peaks of even more than 100 percent," reads the note released by the company.

The rubber sector has been particularly affected: turnover is estimated to have increased by about 10 percent, thus rising from EUR4.5 billion to EUR5 billion, but margins are reduced.

As for the plastics primary processing sector, there is a turnover in the last year of EUR20.9 billion, an increase of 10.4 percent over 2021, also with compressed margins.

Employment remains stable, for a total aggregate of 140,000 workers in the two industries.

Eprcommunication's stock is unchanged at EUR2.90 per share.
