Norwegian energy company Equinor ASA said Wednesday that it has signed an agreement with Russia's Rosneft Oil Co. that will see the two companies collaborate in carbon management.

Building on their strategic partnership in Russia, Equinor said the companies aim to support the goals of the Paris Agreement by joining forces to develop low carbon solutions and reduce the carbon footprint from joint projects.

Under the agreement, Equinor and Rosneft will share experience and explore opportunities within areas such as reduction in flaring and methane emissions, energy efficiency and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions.

They will also evaluate potential cooperation envisaging opportunities for the use of renewables, carbon capture, utilization and storage and low-carbon hydrogen solutions.
