Eighth edition of 'Vai col Vento!' (Go with the wind!) successfully concluded

More than 3,800 students from all over Italy took part in the environmental education project

promoted by ERG on renewable energy and sustainability

Genoa, 23 June - The award ceremony for the eighth edition of 'Vai col Vento!', the educational project promoted by ERG in partnership with Ancitel EA, was held today via webinar. The project addresses topics related to renewable energy production and sustainability, involving 201 classes from 59 secondary schools from 14 different Italian regions, for a total of 3876 pupils.

The prize-winning classes of the project competition 'Understanding the presence of wind farms in the local area and the usefulness of wind energy in combating climate change', were announced during the ceremony.

The VCV21 Awards went to IC Capuana in Mineo (CT), IC Lanfranco in Gabicce Mare (PU), IC Cassarà Guida in Partinico (PA) and IC Busciolano in Potenza. The VCV21 School of the Year, an award given to schools that stand out for their awareness of environmental issues, climate change and renewable energy, went to IC Sant' Eufemia in Lamezia Terme, IC Roseti in Biccari (FG) and IC Bassi-Catalano in Trapani. The jury also awarded the IC of Maida (CZ) a 'special prize' for its many years of loyalty to the project.

'Vai col Vento!' aims to promote knowledge and the spread of energy from renewable sources, the technologies used and the resulting environmental benefits. The project is for pupils in the final year of secondary schools in the municipalities hosting ERG's production plants. It provides information on sustainability, the production of electricity from renewable sources, and information on the plants and technologies operated by ERG (wind, water, sun). Due to its great social and environmental value, over the years the project has received patronage from the Ministry for Environment, Land and Sea Protection and the assistance of the General Order of the Arma dei Carabinieri.

To accommodate the new pandemic-related teaching methods, ERG developed an e-learning platform containing the project's main topics. This makes it possible to take a virtual tour accompanying teachers and students in their discovery of ERG's sustainability, opening a curtain on the world of solar, wind and hydroelectric power. It contains information, video tutorials and learning material, such as games and guidelines to help teachers provide fun and educational activities.

The award ceremony was attended by Simone Togni and Luca Bragoli, respectively president and vice-president of Anev, Giuseppe Consentino, Head of National Relations of ERG and Giuseppe Rinaldi, managing director of Ancitel Energia Ambiente, a partner company in the project, together with local institutions and the school directors, teachers and pupils of the winning schools.
