Ericsson announces that it has successfully conducted a 5G Cloud RAN call using the HPE ProLiant DL110 Gen12 server equipped with Intel Xeon 6 SoC, a technology that, the company says, demonstrates the maturity of its solution for operation on open cloud-native platforms.

This test highlights the intergenerational software portability of the processors and deployment flexibility, while ensuring high performance, AI-optimized energy efficiency, and increased scalability.

It also confirms Ericsson's strategy for an open, multi-vendor, and future-proof ecosystem for the large-scale deployment of 5G. Ericsson, HPE, and Intel thus reaffirm their joint commitment to modernizing telecom networks with agile Cloud RAN solutions that are compatible with future requirements.
