Essential Utilities, Inc. Announces Executive Changes

On October 26, 2022, the Board of Directors elected W. Bryan Lewis to fill a vacancy and serve on the Board of Directors (the Board") of Essential Utilities, Inc. effective immediately. He was elected to a term that will expire at the next annual meeting of shareholders. Mr. Lewis has served as Chief Investment Officer of United States Steel Corporation. In this role, Mr. Lewis is responsible for U.S. Steel's global investments for both the defined contribution and defined benefit plans, as well as other related programs. Mr. Lewis reports to U.S. Steel's Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and is a member of its executive management team. Prior to joining U.S. Steel, Mr. Lewis managed a $28.8 billion pension fund for the Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System for three years. Prior to that, he served as the Executive Director of the $20 billion State Universities Retirement System in Illinois, where he led fund administration and investment management, including managing risk and compliance for two defined benefit plans and one fined contribution plan serving 220,000 members. Mr. Lewis has been appointed to the Audit Committee and the Risk Mitigation and Investment Policy Committee of
the Board.
Essential Utilities, Inc. is a holding company for regulated utilities providing water, wastewater, or natural gas services. The Companyâs segments include the Regulated Water segment and the Regulated Natural Gas segment. The Regulated Water segment consists of water and wastewater regulated utility companies, which are organized by the states where the Company provides water and wastewater services. The Regulated Natural Gas segment consists of natural gas utility companies, acquired in the Peoples Gas Acquisition, for which the Company provides natural gas distribution services. It provides services across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, Illinois, North Carolina, New Jersey, Indiana, Virginia, and Kentucky under the Aqua and Peoples brands. The Company also operates market-based activities, conducted through its non-regulated subsidiaries, that provide utility service line protection solutions and repair services to households and gas marketing and production activities.
