EssilorLuxottica SA said Thursday that revenue for the first quarter rose, helped by a rebound in the U.S. and China.

The Franco-Italian eyewear giant said quarterly revenue rose 7.3% to 4.06 billion euros ($4.87 billion) compared with the first quarter of 2020. At constant exchange rates, revenue rose 14%.

Revenue was up 1.9% compared with the first quarter of 2019 at constant exchange rates.

"The position we're in today gives us greater confidence in our ability to outperform the industry," the company said.
