The prestigious FIA Conference 2021 was formally opened by FIA President Jean Todt on July 5, in Monaco. Paul du Saillant, EssilorLuxottica's Deputy CEO, attended the event along with over 600 in-person and virtual attendees from 169 Clubs in 114 countries. It was a special occasion to announce the renewal of EssilorLuxottica's three-year partnership within the new #PurposeDriven movement launched by the FIA. Both parties will continue to mobilize the general public, institutions, mobility players and eyecare professionals, to address the UN's strong call for action. Together, they will roll out a wide range of initiatives focused on: reinforcing awareness campaigns and advocacy in the run-up to the 2022 UNGA dedicated to the road safety global plan of actions; accelerating innovation in the areas of eye exams, visual solutions and other road safety-related products such as helmets, leveraging racing expertise applied to the roads; and scaling up access to visual equipment in close collaboration with FIA Member Clubs all over the world. This will include joint actions with the United Nations Road Safety Fund.

EssilorLuxottica's commitment for safer roads is part of the Company's wider responsibility as the industry leader and its mission to help people 'see more, be more and live life to its fullest'. Public awareness about the importance of good vision remains low while the need for access to suitable eyewear continues to grow. This issue concerns everyone - low and middle-income countries as well as mature countries, from underserved communities to professional drivers.

Speaking at a panel session entitled 'Purpose driven in practice', Paul du Saillant shared his excitement about this partnership along with the launch of a global 'Action for good vision on the road' campaign. The campaign calls upon all eye care professionals to play a key role in raising awareness and addressing the crucial and reinforced need for good vision in all conditions, day and night.

EssilorLuxottica will also be collaborating with FIA Member Clubs and engage its own extensive network of retail footprint in Italy, North America and Australia. EssilorLuxottica also had its own booth at the event with a 'Check your vision' call-to-action and presented the new refraction station Vision-S™ 700, a revolutionary eye exam instrument. A life-like demo session was conducted with the instrument, to raise awareness of good vision correction and glare protection on the road. The Vision-S™ 700 is used as a tool by ECPs, to allow them to engage patients on quality vision exams as well as inculcate a positive mindset on road safety.
