LEAWOOD, Kan. (AP) _ Euronet Worldwide Inc. (EEFT) on Wednesday reported third-quarter profit of $40.2 million.

On a per-share basis, the Leawood, Kansas-based company said it had net income of 76 cents. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs and non-recurring costs, were $1.12 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 52 cents per share.

The electronic payments and transactions processor posted revenue of $664.4 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $611.1 million.

Euronet Worldwide shares have fallen 44% since the beginning of the year. The stock has declined 37% in the last 12 months.
