Activity on Euronext's cash markets climbed in June, against a backdrop of heightened volatility due to the political upheavals in Europe, according to data published Tuesday by the stock market operator.

At 11.6 billion euros, the average daily transaction value was up 10% on May and 20% higher than in June 2023, the group reports.

This is the highest level in over a year, since March 2023.

Expressed in volume terms, the average number of transactions carried out each day rose by 10% to 2.48 million, up 12% on June 2023.

These high trading volumes were recorded against a backdrop of renewed volatility on European stock markets, following the shock caused by the rise of extreme parties in the wake of the European elections on June 9.

As a reminder, the volatility index on the Euro STOXX 50 index reached its highest level since last October on June 17.

The operator of the Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon, Milan, Oslo and Paris stock exchanges did not benefit from this publication on Tuesday morning, as its share price fell by 0.2%, although this has not prevented it from growing by a further 13% this year.
