MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 25, 2022) - In celebration of Arbor Day later this week, Eversource is partnering with communities and organizations across the state to support local tree planting events and raise awareness about planting the right tree in the right place.

"Trees and energy are essential to life in all of our communities, and we take very seriously our responsibility to ensure safe, reliable service for our customers while promoting sustainability and being environmental stewards," said Eversource Vegetation Management Manager Bob Allen. "We're proud to partner with municipalities, schools and others across the state on programs year-round to 'plan before you plant' and select the right tree for the right place as part of those efforts. Arbor Day in New Hampshire always offers many examples of how Granite Staters work together every day to make a positive impact on the environment, and we're excited to join our community partners in celebrating this year."

From now until May, Eversource's team of certified arborists will be participating in Earth and Arbor Day-related events at the following locations. In addition, the energy company is donating 10 trees in support of the City of Portsmouth's 400th anniversary celebration next year.

  • Derry Village School (previously held on Earth Day, April 22, and pictured above)
  • New Hampshire State Forest Nursery in Boscawen (April 28)
  • Wilton Police Station and Cooley Park (April 29)
  • Pinkerton Academy (April 29)
  • Mt. Pleasant School in Nashua (May 3)

As part of its commitment to educational partnerships and sustainable vegetation management practices, Eversource has two public utility arboreta in New Hampshire to provide students, tree wardens, municipal leaders, landscape architects and the public examples of the wide variety of trees that can be safely planted near and under utility equipment. The public arboreta are located at the energy company's Legends Drive Facility in Hooksett and at the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth.
