On September 27, France's Direction Générale de l'Armement (DGA) announced that it had placed an order for the development of two underwater robotics systems as part of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces' "deep-sea control" program.

Exail and Travocean have been selected to develop and produce, respectively, an autonomous underwater drone (AUV) and a remotely-operated robot (ROV), which will form the French Navy's first deep-sea capability from 2026.

Capable of operating at depths of up to 6,000 meters and carrying payloads, these first capabilities will be used to protect underwater infrastructures, guarantee the freedom of action of armed forces and safeguard French interests.
