BGE has provided over $3 million to 594 emergency response programs over the past ten years

BALTIMORE - BGE has opened the application portal for local non-profits to apply for the company's Emergency Response & Safety Grants, part of BGE's commitment to supporting the communities where we live, work, and serve. BGE is grateful to our first responders for their service and proud to support their selfless mission as they risk their lives every day to assist community members in distress.

This is the eleventh year for the program which supports nonprofit emergency response and public safety organizations throughout BGE's service area. Last year, BGE presented more than $250,000 to 61 grant recipients. Previous recipients have used the grants for emergency equipment upgrades including ambulance and ambulance bay improvements, rescue boat navigation systems, disaster aid tools, safety gear and protective equipment. Grants of $2,500 to $10,000 are available for eligible 501c3 organizations. Applications are now open online at BGE Emergency Response and Safety Grants, and must be submitted by Jan. 13, 2023.

In addition to the BGE Emergency Response and Safety Grants, BGE provides free training for fire and police departments, 911 centers and emergency management organizations who routinely respond to emergencies in close proximity to utility equipment. BGE is recognized for its own emergency response record, ranking among the top utilities in the nation for rapid response to gas emergency calls and for working to prevent damage to energy equipment by third parties. BGE plays an integral role in working with Maryland communities to address economic development, public safety, civic issues and other initiatives that help enhance our neighborhoods. Through the use of shareholder dollars, BGE supports programs that deliver measurable and sustainable impact in our community.
