CHICAGO (AP) _ Exelon Corp. (EXC) on Thursday reported third-quarter profit of $676 million.

The Chicago-based company said it had net income of 68 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 75 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 72 cents per share.

The energy company posted revenue of $4.85 billion in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $5.01 billion.

Exelon expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.21 to $2.29 per share.
