FACC for #equaleverywhere: Launch of an awareness campaign with top Paralympics athlete Nico Langmann
On 3 December, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, FACC wants to send a clear signal: for fewer barriers for people with disabilities and for more equal rights for all. The international aerospace group is launching an awareness campaign with the Austrian wheelchair tennis player and top Paralympic athlete Nico Langmann. Because equality and inclusion begin where indifference and barriers end.

The corona pandemic has brought restrictions and thus less personal freedom to everyone in the world. There are about one billion people worldwide who have some form of health impairment. Around 75 million of these people are dependent on a wheelchair. For all these people, restrictions and barriers are hard everyday life - and this is not just since Corona. "FACC has a great vision: to enable and promote personal mobility for every individual. It is no coincidence that our company claim is called 'Beyond horizons'", emphasises Robert Machtlinger, CEO of FACC AG, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. "Equality is very important to us - we want to ensure it for all people, regardless of gender, age, nationality or their physical situation. That's why we are deliberately launching an awareness campaign on International Day of Persons with Disabilities to call for more equality and fewer barriers for people with impairments."

Breaking down barriers, reaching out to each other

In order to create awareness, especially among younger target groups, FACC developed an influencer campaign together with the renowned video production company "Diego 5 Studios Branded Entertainment GmbH" and was able to win Nico Langmann as a testimonial. "Nico is the most successful Austrian wheelchair tennis player and top Paralympic athlete. He is a role model for overcoming barriers and rising above oneself. With Nico, we want to give other people the courage to believe in themselves. And we want to encourage everyone to break down barriers in society, to approach each other and to act at eye level," says Andreas Perotti, Director of Marketing and Communications at FACC, describing the intention of this FACC awareness campaign

However, FACC does not limit itself to proactive communication for more equality and fewer barriers in life and society. "It is part of our mission to also make flying without barriers possible for all people with their most diverse needs. With LAV4ALL, for example, we have developed an unprecedented aircraft toilet system that offers passengers full accessibility and 100% freedom of movement inside the toilet," reports Robert Machtlinger

With the LAV4ALL toilet system, FACC has opened up a new dimension of accessibility when flying. A development that was eagerly awaited by many people. Because for passengers with special needs, the use of aircraft toilets has often been very limited or, in the worst case, not possible at all. Especially on short- and medium-haul flights, aircraft toilets have not been barrier-free until now, as the space available for toilets is very limited due to the maximisation of the number of seats. Even in wide-bodied aircraft, toilets often failed to meet the all-important accessibility requirement despite better space availability. With LAV4ALL, flying becomes what it should be, even for people with physical disabilities: the most comfortable, safest and fastest form of living personal mobility and covering greater distances.
