PITTSBURGH (AP) _ Federated Investors Inc. (FII) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $82.1 million.

On a per-share basis, the Pittsburgh-based company said it had profit of 81 cents.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 71 cents per share.

The one of the nation's largest managers of money market funds posted revenue of $358 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported profit of $272.3 million, or $2.69 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.33 billion.

Federated Investors shares have risen nearly 7% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $34.82, a rise of 34% in the last 12 months.
