We extend our sincere thoughts and prayers to our team members and the communities impacted by Hurricane Matthew.

On September 22, Hurricane Matthew formed from a forceful tropical wave moving off the African coast. After developing into a tropical storm, it moved west, and the storm swiftly turned into a Category 5 hurricane. As it reached U.S. waters on October 7, it left behind a humanitarian crisis in Haiti, destruction in the Bahamas and Cuba and has affected communities in Florida and the Carolinas.

At FedEx, the safety of those affected by the hurricane is our top priority. We are working to support disaster relief efforts through our humanitarian organization relationships-such as Direct Relief, International Medical Corps, Heart to Heart International, The American Red Cross and Water Mission -to deliver food and medical supplies in Haiti and along the east coast.

These disaster relief organizations have medical staff and disaster relief supplies pre-positioned in the region. They are assessing the situation and providing critical needs like medicine, medical aid, shelter, hygiene kits and water. FedEx is maintaining constant communication with these organizations to ensure we are responding appropriately.

To help ensure aid is delivered efficiently, we are focusing our relief efforts with these existing organizations. To heed the direction of the groups coordinating relief efforts, we are unable to provide charitable shipping for collection drives and donated items.

The best way to help is to contribute to relief efforts by donating funds directly to these agencies or the humanitarian organization of your choice.

We continue to closely monitor Hurricane Matthew. Contingency plans are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of our team members and to minimize the effects of the storm on service. These storms often cause pickup and delivery delays and disruptions for FedEx customers. FedEx will be prepared to provide service to the best of our ability in areas affected by the storm and as local conditions allow. Click here for more information on affected service.
