FedEx Corp. on Wednesday said it was working with autonomous driving technology company Aurora and truck manufacturer Paccar Inc. on a commercial pilot program to use autonomous trucks.

FedEx will use the autonomous vehicle to transport loads between Dallas and Houston along the I-45 corridor, the companies said. Although the trucks will operate autonomously, a human driver will be in the vehicle as an additional safety measure.

In January, Paccar and Aurora agreed to develop, test and commercialize autonomous Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks, the companies said, integrating Paccar's autonomous vehicle platform with the Aurora Driver.
