MADISON, Wis. (AP) _ First Business Financial Services Inc. (FBIZ) on Thursday reported second-quarter profit of $3.3 million.

The bank, based in Madison, Wisconsin, said it had earnings of 38 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 30 cents per share.

The bank holding company for First Business Bank and First Business Bank-Milwaukee posted revenue of $29.1 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $25.2 million, also topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $24.6 million.

First Business Financial Services shares have declined 44% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $14.83, a decline of 33% in the last 12 months.
