Zurich Airport Ltd. has acquired full ownership of the Radisson Blu building at Zurich Airport through an early reversion of the building lease. This was the last property within the central airport perimeter not owned by Zurich Airport Ltd. The building will continue to serve as a hotel and office facility.
The Radisson Blu building at Zurich Airport was transferred from its previous owner, Al Maha Real Estate AG, to Flughafen Zürich AG for approximately CHF 155 million.
The Radisson Blu building was constructed under a building right established in 2005, which was set to last until 2080. The Radisson Blu hotel opened in 2008 after completion of construction. The building lease contract has now been dissolved through the early reversion to Zurich Airport Ltd.
The building spans twelve floors and is directly connected to parking facility P1 via a walkway on the eighth floor. Most of the space is dedicated to Radisson's hotel operations, including conference and meeting centers. In 2023 and 2024, the hotel underwent extensive renovations to update the rooms and lobby to meet current guest needs. The existing rental agreement with Radisson Blu will remain in effect unchanged following this acquisition.
Improved Planning and Development PotentialBy prematurely terminating the building right and securing the reversion of the hotel building, Zurich Airport Ltd. now holds full ownership rights. This strategic move opens up new development opportunities for Zürich Airport Ltd. within the central airport perimeter.
