Ford Motor Co. shares edged down 5.5%, to $12.07, following a report in The Wall Street Journal that the car company has delayed deliveries of certain vehicles because it didn't have the blue oval badges that go on them.

Ford has run into supply constraints with the brand-name badges and the nameplates that specify the model, the Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter. A company spokesman confirmed it has held some vehicle shipments because of a lack of badges.

The shortage is affecting Ford's popular F-Series pickup trucks, the Journal reported.
