DEERFIELD, Ill. (AP) _ Fortune Brands Home & Security Inc. (FBHS) on Wednesday reported second-quarter earnings of $115.8 million.

The Deerfield, Illinois-based company said it had net income of 83 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 94 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 59 cents per share.

The maker of products for the home, like faucets, cabinets, windows and doors posted revenue of $1.38 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.32 billion.

Fortune Brands Home & Security shares have risen 16% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $75.95, a climb of 38% in the last 12 months.
