FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) _ Franklin Electric Co. (FELE) on Tuesday reported first-quarter net income of $27.9 million.

On a per-share basis, the Fort Wayne, Indiana-based company said it had net income of 59 cents.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 39 cents per share.

The water and fuel pumping systems company posted revenue of $333 million in the period.

Franklin Electric expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.80 to $3 per share, with revenue in the range of $1.45 billion to $1.48 billion.

Franklin Electric shares have climbed 18% since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 66% in the last 12 months.
