PHOENIX (AP) _ Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (FCX) on Thursday reported third-quarter earnings of $1.4 billion.

The Phoenix-based company said it had profit of 94 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 89 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 78 cents per share.

The mining company posted revenue of $6.08 billion in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $6.22 billion.
