Thousands of mine workers at Freeport-McMoran's Indonesian unit will extend their strike for another month to protest against layoffs. Freeport Indonesia union industrial relations officer Tri Puspital was quoted as saying up to 6,000 workers will remain on strike, putting Freeport's plan to ramp up output at risk. Freeport workers started a strike in May after the company laid off around 10% of its workforce, while the miner negotiates a new mining permit with the Indonesian government.
