DANBURY, Conn. (AP) _ FuelCell Energy Inc. (FCEL) on Tuesday reported a loss of $12 million in its fiscal third quarter.

The Danbury, Connecticut-based company said it had a loss of 4 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 5 cents per share.

The fuel cell power plant maker posted revenue of $26.8 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $21.2 million.

FuelCell Energy shares have fallen 50% since the beginning of the year. The stock has more than doubled in the last 12 months.
