WYOMISSING, Pa. (AP) _ Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc. (GLPI) on Thursday reported a key measure of profitability in its third quarter. The results exceeded Wall Street expectations.

The real estate investment trust, based in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, said it had funds from operations of $235 million, or 89 cents per share, in the period.

The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for funds from operations of 88 cents per share.

Funds from operations is a closely watched measure in the REIT industry. It takes net income and adds back items such as depreciation and amortization.

The company said it had net income of $220 million, or 85 cents per share.

The real estate investment trust posted revenue of $333.8 million in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $320.9 million.

Gaming and Leisure Properties expects full-year funds from operations in the range of $3.52 to $3.54 per share, with revenue in the range of $918 million to $923 million.
