Garmin Celebrates National First Responders Day
October 18, 2021

If you are a person who uses social media (so essentially everyone), you'll likely have noticed that it seems like there's a "holiday" for everything. There's even an international Talk Like a Pirate Day (which is Sept. 19, if you intend to celebrate). One particular day rises above the fluff, though, and that's National First Responders Day. Celebrated on Oct. 28, National First Responders Day recognizes those individuals who put their own lives on the line to save ours.

The National Emergency Number Association says that approximately 240 million 911 calls are made each year, often asking first responders to run toward danger as we attempt to run away from it. A simple "thank you" to the first responders in your life may not feel like enough, but it's a great place to start. And if you'd like to take it a little further? Well, we're guessing the first responder in your life wouldn't say no to some Garmin technology specifically designed to meet their needs in the field.

Durable Smartwatches

The first responder in your life needs a smartwatch that works as hard - and in the same conditions - as they do. Available in 18 different variations, the Garmin Instinct® adventure watch is built with military standard toughness for thermal, shock and water resistance, allowing your first responder to rely on it while the rest of the world relies on them.

Helicopter Flight Displays

If your loved one is a member of an aerial unit, the importance of having access to top-notch navigation and flight control systems on the job cannot be overstated. From innovative, all-in-one portable GPS units to full-featured flight solutions for helicopters, Garmin's suite of avionics technologies can serve alongside the pilot in your life, regardless of what kind of budget you're working with.

Marine Transducers

The work first responders do isn't restricted to land and air - some rescue units spend their days on the water. If that's the case, Garmin marine transducers, like the Panoptix LiveScope™ system, offer crystal-clear views of what's around and below your boat. (And captains of larger vessels may also want to snag a Garmin radar.)

GPS Handhelds

While we've technically devised this list to be of the most use to first responders, sending your loved one out into the field with a Garmin GPS handheld gives you a priceless gift as well - peace of mind. Wherever the job takes them, a handheld unit like the inReach® Mini* satellite communicator or the GPSMAP® 66 series handheld GPS allows you to keep in touch when it matters most. Need more proof?
