Gas Malaysia Berhad reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2018. For the quarter, the company reported revenue of MYR 1,435,249,000 compared to MYR 1,185,710,000 a year ago. Profit before zakat and taxation was MYR 54,778,000 compared to MYR 43,855,000 a year ago. This was mainly due to higher gross profit which is in line with the increase in volume of gas sold and partly offsetted by higher operating expenses. Net profit for the period was MYR 40,212,000 compared to MYR 32,330,000 a year ago. Net profit attributable to owners of the parent was MYR 40,212,000 or 3.13 sen per basic and diluted share compared to MYR 32,427,000 or 2.53 sen per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net cash flows generated from operating activities was MYR 58,913,000 compared to net cash flows used in operating activities of MYR 97,424,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was MYR 31,225,000 compared to MYR 17,115,000 a year ago.
