Gazprom Neft expands its high-tech bitumens and lubricants supply partnership with the Republic of Buryatia

10 November 2020

Alexander Dyukov (CEO, Gazprom Neft) and Alexey Tsydenov (Head of the Republic of Buryatia) have signed a Cooperation Agreement which will see Gazprom Neft supplying the region with cutting-edge bitumen materials as well as helping promote import substitution in motor oils and engine service fluids.

The agreement envisages direct supplies of high-tech Gazprom Neft bitumens and bitumen-derivative products for the construction and maintenance of road and transport infrastructure, housing, and public utilities throughout Buryatia. The company's R&D Centre will be putting forward bitumen and asphalt-concrete mixes appropriate to the region's specific climatic conditions and transport requirements in order to increase road coverings' typical service life. Deploying innovative materials will be undertaken on pilot test-sections with the subsequent condition of road coverings being closely monitored.

A further area of activity under this partnership will include implementing joint import-substitution programmes for lubricants and engine service fluids. As part of this collaboration Gazprom Neft will increase supplies of its own-brand Gazpromneft and G-Energy lubricants, designed for servicing motor vehicles as well as various kinds of machinery and industrial equipment. Demand from municipal and city enterprises in the Republic of Buryatia is estimated at 3,700 tonnes per year, more than 60% of which is currently accounted for by international production. The economic benefit to the regional budget is expected to reach RUB65 million per year subject to Gazprom Neft replacing all imported lubricants and service fluids.

"We are continuing our effective ongoing cooperation with the Republic of Buryatia. Gazprom Neft lubricants are already used by major industrial and agricultural enterprises throughout the region, and our bitumen products are used in building and repairing the republic's transport and infrastructure - with Gazprom Neft's cutting-edge bitumen products having been used, most notably, in the reconstruction of the runway at Baikal International Airport. Signing this new agreement will allow us, among other things, to work more proactively with the republic on joint import-substitution programmes for lubricants and engine service fluids, delivering a major economic benefit for the regional budget."
