GE Vernova announces that its subsidiary GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) is part of a coalition led by Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to accelerate the deployment of the BWRX-300 modular reactor in the United States.

The coalition has submitted an $800 million funding application to the U.S. Department of Energy's SMR Generation III+ program.

TVA plans to deploy the reactor at the Clinch River, Tennessee site, with commercial operation scheduled for 2033 if funding is approved.

GEH also reports that Duke Energy is supporting the development of BWRX-300 technology, and that American Electric Power is considering its deployment in Indiana.
