Atlanta, Georgia - October 13, 2021- GE (NYSE: GE) announced today that South Field Energy, a combined cycle natural gas electric generating facility managed by Advanced Power, safely achieved commercial operation in Columbiana County. Ohio's economy is driven by its robust manufacturing sector, led by high energy-intensive industries, such as strong metals fabrication and chemical production industries. Dispatching 1 gigawatt (GW) of power to the PJM Interconnection marketplace represents a stimulus for the economy of Columbiana County and surrounding communities. The 1,182 megawatt (MW) natural gas power plant produces the electricity needed to power the equivalent of approximately one million homes in Ohio.

South Field Energy is GE's third project with Advanced Power. For this project, GE provided the H-Class full combined cycle plant solution - from project financing to full plant equipment to controls and services throughout the full life cycle of the plant.

The plant, built by Bechtel, the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company, consists of two identical units. Each unit includes all equipment by GE: a 7HA.02 gas turbine, powering a H65 generator, and a STF-D650 steam turbine, powering a H53 generator, with a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG). In addition to using GE's technology for the power plant, GE provided its Mark* VIe Distributed Control System (DCS) software solution and services to support the availability and reliability of the plant.

"South Field Energy is Advanced Power's third major infrastructure project in the United States and we are proud that a leading energy development company of their caliber has once again selected GE as their partner of choice," commented Eric Gray, CEO, Americas, GE Gas Power. "For South Field Energy, we were able to provide a total plant solution, from project financing, with GE Energy Financial Services supporting the project with development financing and other credit facilities at financial close in 2018, to plant equipment, including our advanced HA technology and services for the full life-cycle of the plant."

For more than 80 years GE has produced equipment for gas power generation plants and used technical innovations from its industrial, aviation, and research center heritages to advance the efficiency of its equipment to world-record levels and reduce its environmental footprint. GE is a world leader in gas turbine fuel flexibility, including more than 100 gas turbines that have operated more than 8 million operating hours on fuels that contain hydrogen. GE's HA technology also helped deliver two world records - one for powering the world's most efficient combined-cycle power plant, based on achieving 63.08 percent gross efficiency and another for helping achieve 62.22 percent net combined cycle efficiency.
